Telus TV+ without home internet subscription?

Optik TV Basics still requires a TELUS TV digital box for $10/month plus and internet connection for an additional $60 - 80/month minimum and is not available for streaming on devices such as mobile phones, tablets or PC's. So over $100/month for a handful of basic channels than I can stream for free over my 5G internet connection on my devices or over a digital antenna that has a one-time cost of under $100. No thanks. I'm already paying for internet in my mobility account.
Telus must have heard me as only a couple hours after posting my rant I received an email offering a brand new service, Stream+, which combines Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime together with TELUS TV+ in one package, streamed over your mobile devices for an additional $23/month. This is what I've been waiting for! Thank you Telus for joining the streaming world!

6 months agoMy understanding is that this is no longer the case. In the days of the old PVR set top boxes you needed the box and Telus Internet to use the service. Optik TV is now cloud based so you only need a Telus account and an Optik TV package as well as a device that can run the Telus TV+ app. Certainly Telus would prefer to bundle everything but it's no longer a requirement.
There may be limits to where you can view content. So you wouldn't be able to watch content if you are in another country for example.
