When it comes to using the Asus directly with our ONT, it might not be a straightforward plug-and-play scenario. The T3200M handles important settings and configurations specific to our internet services that other routers may not support directly. You could always look into setting your T3200M to bridge mode to see if that works.

Thanks for correcting me. I definately do not have an ONT 🙂
I was confusing ONT with what I think is an sfp optical module.
My setup:
wall -> fibre cable -> sfp optical module -> T3200M -> ethernet to old asus router
Could I simply take the T3200M out of the chain of devices and just plug the sfp optical module into a (new) router with an sfp port?

1 year agoWhile the SFP optical module does handle the fiber connection, we don’t officially support custom setups, including bypassing the TELUS-provided T3200M. If you choose to explore this option, you may find insights from the community where others have shared their experiences with similar setups.
