Also before attempting to use your own router, make sure that the Telus modem and your own router have DIFFERENT DHCP LAN pools. Meaning, they both can't be using 192.168.1.x for the LAN side. Easiest thing to do is change the Telus modem to use 192.168.2.x right off the hop. Chances are this will resolve the issue for many of you who have the rest of the settings correct.
