Hi DonnaT - I don't believe that's something that can be changed, as I just checked the settings of my Gmail account. However, what I can say is that you are able to use a third-party app to check your email. So, if you enjoyed using Samsung Email as it displays the newest email at the top, I recommend you use that.
You just need to go into Samsung Email's settings, select 'Add account', and then choose Gmail. After that, log in with your username and password
