Telus Fibre Optic speed issue
Just Switched to 1Gghz Fibre Optic internet - getting slower wifi than I had with Shaw - how come? I had Shaw 300 and 600 plans, and consistently got close to 300 and 600Mps download speeds with wif...
- 5 years agoWell WiFi speeds vary due to many factors, but if you turn on the wifi of your iPhone right next to the Hub it means you are on 5G. Then whatever you get on the speed test app (not website obviously if it's a mobile device) is the speed the antenna in your device can handle.
If your phone used to get faster wifi speeds then try a more powerful booster or router than the Telus hub (you still need the Hub as a modem). You can also reboot your hub and phone next to each other for a clean test once they are ready.
Regarding the Telus app speedtest that's the internal speed received by the Modem that's why your hardwired speed is always around 960mbps. The actual wifi speed depends on the capability of the transmitting (router) and receiving device (phone)
