could you explain how to do that on an iphone 17E. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it a couple times, and briefly when it opens it looks like it works (but probably is connecting to old data). Not sure how to force on app.

If you've deleted the app and reinstalled that would have the same effect.
I had issues a few days ago with the Telus Connect app that cleared up later with no intervention from me. So possibly issue on Telus' side.
