I want to map local.fmams -> 192.168.1.x

I'm still not sure what you are trying to do. FWIW this is what I've done to access my NAS from various systems on my LAN.
Assigned it the name in the network configurations such as MyNAS and give it a static IP address (192.168.1.100)
On the router I have reserved that IP address (192.168.1.100)
In DNS Mapping I have assigned the name MyNAS to 192.168.1.100
From a Windows file explorer I am able to access the NAS shares via \\MyNas
From a web browser I am able to access the web interface with http://MyNas
I need the appropriate services running on my NAS to make this happen (SMB, HTTP).
