Sooner technician appointment?
We were unhappy with our rogers service so we just canceled them and got a new bundle through telus yesterday. Unfortunately rogers cut everything off yesterday while we were on the phone with them canceling everything (despite originally saying we would keep the services until the end of our billing cycle) and the earliest appointment we could get for our telus is September 16th... Is there anyway to get an earlier service date at all (even if there's an extra charge or something)? Going another 2 and a half weeks without internet is going to be impossible as far as my job goes...

That’s really frustrating — especially since Rogers cut you off early. Telus appointments can sometimes open up if someone cancels, so it’s worth checking back often or asking to be put on a cancellation/waitlist. Also, Telus sometimes offers temporary solutions like a mobile hotspot or Smart Hub until the install date, so I’d call and ask if they can set you up with something in the meantime. Definitely let them know you rely on internet for work — that can sometimes speed things up.

Hey Up_ana_Adam - it depends if there's Fibre to your home already. If you need a fibre drop then there's no way to make this move any faster until that's sorted out.
You could see if your previous provider can do a software connection just for a few days

Wrong, You do a early appointment request, you put the reference number in the order and you let the customer know that there's no guarantee of a early appointment. You also let them know what happens if a early appointment does become available how they will be contacted. I am a retired telus customer service rep and retired tech support rep.

Hi scoste66 while I appreciate your attempt at helping, you cannot submit an early appointment request when fibre is not built yet. Submitting an early appointment request this way is a recipe for an appointment being pushed further back when the technician shows up to the early appointment and the fibre drop is not built yet.
Credentials are not needed in the forum but if we want to source ourselves, I was part of the Drop Not Ready program and I see cases like these daily.
I wanted to double check in case things changed and here's what I found in our search page:
Do not Submit Early Appointment Request:
- For Order Based Drop orders unless Drop is complete
- Appointment is scheduled for less than three days
Hope this clears things up

My parents had fibre before switching to rogers, they want to start traveling though which is why the new services will be under my name so technically I'm a new customer but yeah I do believe that we don't need a fibre drop with that being said what step can I take then for an earlier appointment?
