Searching shows in the guide
I see there is a history to the inability to search the guide for upcoming shows and that all past attempts to ask this question show as resolved when clearly it's not resolved. As a newbe to Telus o...

The user interface is indeed determined by the type of equipment you have. The legacy Optik TV platform has a different UI than the newer gen TV platform.
That said, neither the older or the newer platform has a search within the guide. On the newer platform, there are 2 search options:
- using the magnifying glass on the home screen. You can either enable the microphone for speech to text or type using your remote. These search results are unified, meaning they list programming that's available Live, in Restart, On Demand or from certain Apps such as Prime Video. When I search for Big Bang Theory, for example, I get the following. There are buttons to watch On Demand or Restart, as well as options to record, add to favourites. You can see a full list of seasons and episodes, and clicking into each one gives you options to record or see ways to watch (the hamburger icon) including live airings.
- Google Assistant (using the button on the remote). Google Assistant searches within Apps including Netflix, YouTube, Prime etc. as well as TELUS On Demand content. It does not surface Live TV, but can be used for things like 'tune to channel 900', 'tune to TSN' 'mute the TV' etc.

When in the guide there is no search option. When I use the speech option or the magnifying glass from outside the guide all I get is app content like Youtube
