Question regarding the NH20A 10gb port

Just upgraded my internet speed from 1gb to 3gb. I have a 5gb port on my pc so realistically I want to take advantage of it even though it may or may not even make or notice a difference.
My question is.. with the current setup they have there’s no way for me to get more than 1gb.. the Nokia ont is next to the NA20H and is connected to it using the 10gb port. The rest of the ports are only 1gb. So what options do I have in terms of freeing up the 10gb port?? I read something about sfp but I honestly not too familiar with that.. so simple question would be.. is there a way to by pass the ont and have the fiber direct to the NA20H? Like can they connect the NA20H with a ont module and free up the 10gb port so I can use the 10gb port and hook it up to a 10gb switch

Hi Wai_lai416   - The Nokia box that is at the highest point in the picture should not be active anymore as you don't need it. From there, the NAH on the far-left has the 10Gb port. You can install a 5 or 10Gb switch there if you want to connect your PC via ethernet. Your router (the trashcan looking device) needs to also be connected to this port. So there are options to get this done, but it is outside of our scope

Thx I can figure out the rest myself as long as I can get the 10gb port freed up. Actually my other question would be does the Telus wifi 7 thing which I haven’t gotten yet tech call is 2 weeks and my current wifi 6 booster work if I bridge the NA20H or those boosters require the NA20H as the router to function

Since I'm not sure what photo El-Eric is referring to, I'll provide some additional info for you based on my experience with the hardware.

        1. The NH20A or Network Access Hub, as Telus calls it, will be the gateway/router in this case. Unless explicitly necessary, and you have a new router to go between the NH20A and your own devices, bridging should be avoided.
        2. If the fibre is connected to the NH20A/NAH, then as El-Eric suggested putting a 10G switch on that port would be an idea. If the fibre is still running to the Nokia ONT and not the NH20A/NAH, the upgrade to 3gbps likely missed a few steps on Telus's side.
        3. The Boost itself cannot be bridged as it is merely a wireless access point and not a router. Any IP addresses obtained by devices connected to it would come from the NH20A. Definitely avoid connecting it to any bridged connection. The Boost can also be connected using MoCA / coax instead of using the 10G port on the NH20A/NAH.
        4. The white cylindrical trashcans from Telus come in 2 flavours. The Wi-Fi Boost units and the older Wi-Fi Hub gateway/router which the NH20A replaced. The Boost 6 has one purple 2.5G LAN port. The Wi-Fi Hub has only 4 gigabit LAN ports. Normally Telus won't leave two routers/gateways together at the same residence.

Does the ONT actually say Nokia on it? The old Nokia ONTs, like the one I have for my 1gbps fibre, don't support 3gbps. There may be newer ones but as far as I was aware, they weren't including separate ONTs for the higher speed connections. (ie higher than 1.5gbps). Normally if the NAH / NH20A is installed (the only gateway I know of with a 10gbps port), the fibre is connected into it directly instead of having a separate ONT. If the ONT and the NH20A are in the same place, it's odd that the fibre wasn't just connected to the NH20A directly.

Out of curiosity, do you have all of the following devices installed currently?

I currently have this in my garage cabling a little messy but that’s how they installed it. When I first had it it was the Nokia ont + the old trashcan network hub forgot the model. When I renewed 3-4 years ago I fought for the wifi 6 booster and ended up with 2 since my wifi signal doesn’t reach upstairs for whatever reason and vice versa. I think that’s when they replaced the trashcan with the nh20a.. I’m assuming this is the lazy simple way of just making it work without any provisioning the sfp module etc.. they are coming to replace my wifi 6 with wifi 7 and I’m going to assume they are going to take away the Nokia ont and just stick the fiber directly into the network hub then?
My next question would be I’m planning on replacing the old coax line they installed outside and drilled into the 2 room with cat 6 cables using the same holes. To get the 2 jacks working do I simply with up to 10gb do I simply just connect a switch from the 10gb port on the nh20a and then connect the 2 line i pulled outside and plug my 2 wifi routers to it? Prolly only need to pull 1 line if they just give me a 2.5 moca but don’t hold my breath
