Need separate isolated network for work purposes

Hello,

I am currently renting a house that includes Telus Internet, I have to setup a separate isolated network to be able to work as they require this.

I have limited access to the modem it is in Garage but can access if absolute needed I do have access to the login page for both Telus devices it is a newer building and has one cat cable running up to the Apt which is in the 10g port going to a managed switch then switch to Telus Router and switch to my Router/Routers

can someone please help me set up this sep network please I realize this is mentioned a lot but not my actual situation.

I need to return to work from home.

Netgear Managed switch

Telus wifi 7 router

I have available M18 Dlink, Linksys EA6100,Tp Link deco m4 Router
The Way I had it at last place was put into bridge mode plugged router into port 1 but it is very hard for me to run another cable besides the one coming into my apt.

Have you tried a 'Double NAT' isolation process? This would entail plugging a second router into your main network. You'd keep your current physical wiring exactly as it is.

    1. Your garage's NH20A (10G port) ---> single cat cable up to your aptartment ---> Netgear managed switch.

    2. Netgear Switch Port 2 ---> TELUS Wi-Fi 7 Router (this runs your main home network)

    3. Netgear Switch Port 3 ---> Internet/WAN port of your personal router (your TP-Link or D-Link)

Then you'd log into your personal router's settings (the one you're using for work). Change its local IP subnet so it doesn't conflict with the TELUS one. i.e. if TELUS uses 192.168.1.X , then you'd change your personal router's LAN IP setup to 192.168.10.1

Then name the Wi-Fi on this router something distinct like 'Secure Work'. Then connect only your work laptop that network.

Sorry I responded to the first response. This is exactly how I have it but vlan setup on port 3 and 4 but should I bridge the NH20 port 10g ?? Will the regular network booster work fine ?? I tried it this way but the wifi 7 booster worked for about a day then but the big one could connect to it but would not access internet tech replaced with new one and for whatever reason the tech moved my 10g port cable to port 3 and did not mention anything now my company is investigating potential customer information being comprised they are very strict about this type of thing and the reason it needs isolation

Gotcha. You could always check in directly with our Tech Support team about this.

  • Yes I know about that and no that would not work. For my job I deal with important data and process payments until I can make this work I am not. the last apt I was at I was able to run cable so I just bridged the hub and ran off port 1 but here it is next to impossible without drilling through a brand new floor in a brand new apt there is however a coaxle coming into my apt somewhere I have not found yet but I have allready spent a lot of money to try and make this work so I do not want to pay for a Moca  they not cheap.
    Thanks for reply btw

Normally this isn't something we support as it's a fairly specific use-case but have you considered dedicating one of the two bands to work and the other for personal use? Ex., 2.4 GHz for personal; 5 GHz for work (or vice versa)?
