Importing email from Telus.net account to Gmail

I'm trying to import emails and contacts from a Telus.net Google workspace account to a new personal Gmail account. I turn POP on with the Telus address and then go to the new Gmail account and try to import, but it doesn't work. The Gmail import window either keeps asking for the Telus email password (which I keep inputing), or it says the email and password combination are incorrect. What am I doing wrong? Any help with this would be much appreciated!
