How do I connect using Wi-Fi 6E
I have the Telus Boost Wi-Fi 6E access point (the white trash can). My computer supports Wi-Fi 6E, but is connecting to the 5 GHz band. How can I connect using the 6 GHz band?

Shane, I think you just described that your computer is enabled to work with 6E.
Have you any other devices receiving on 6E from Telus wifi?
I don't.
Through the webpage of the Booster 6E you can turn on and name the 6E SSID which would then be available to all your in range 6E devices.
I have my Samsung S22 Ultra and my Macbook Pro 2023 connected has 6E devices.
Note that other devices can connect with WiFi6 (not 6E). They should show a little "6" along with "WiFi" to confirm even if they are connecting to your regular SSID.
The old copper wiring used a gateway which had a feature called SmartSteering. When SmartSteering was turned off, you could add a separate SSID to each band. Telus Boost Wi-Fi 6E doesn't support SmartSteering. When you add a SSID, it gets applied to all three bands.
When I disabled the 5 GHz band, my computer connected to the 2.4 GHz band. But when I disabled the 2.4 MHz band, my computer didn't connect to the 6 GHz band.
I received a reply in the HP community. In Windows 11, you can verify that Wi-Fi 6E is enable by opening Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz > Advanced tab > Ultra High Band (6GHz) Property. The value was was Enabled, meaning its turned on.
I don't know what else I can try.
Actually, the 6E Booster supports only "SmartSteering". It can only be turned off by turning off 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz.
It also has a 'special' SSID (fixed name and password) for any "smart home" devices.
In my transition to the Telus gear, I left my old gear with its 2.4 and 5 SSIDs & setup a new SSID to transfer my many devices to. All of them connected with no issues to the Telus histed SSID. All connected to their best frequency.
Once all devices transferred, I turned off the old SSIDs, checked if any devices was forgotten then removed old gear.
My only issue, so far, is the darn app. It doesn't see the Telus hardware!
A tech is trying to figure it out remotely. He says the latest update fixed the issue for at least some people. So they are scratching their heads ... I suspect the queries to the hardware aren't returning expected values and app gets lost ...
At least network and WiFi are working. Simply not possible to manage devices (ex: pause, etc.) and such. Rest can be done through the web interfaces (ex: rename SSID of main and guest WiFi, change their passwords, tweak IP, ...)
I was unaware of the wifi6 until I saw my cell phone connect to it.
How did you determine the computer supports wifi 6?
The product specifications say it has "Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 (2x2); HP Extended Range Wireless LAN; Modern Standby (Connected)".
I don't know what extended range wireless LAN is.
