Fibre Optic
We have had the Fibre Optic brought into our condo building, the wire runs to each condo above the door. My question is why do we have to have wires running all around each condo to each TV? I would like to go with the fibre optic but I don't like the way neighbor's have had wires running around the walls across the stucco popcorn ceilings and ruining the look of the home. Why cant something be fitted where my modem is now just inside the door and then use Wi fi for everything?

The fibre line when installed in the unit is nearly invisible, even with popcorn ceilings. It's usually run along the edge of the ceiling to a single point where the ONT/gateway/router is installed. It's a nearly transparent and extremely thin fibre line. The only places it's slightly visible is when the fibre has to go around a corner since it can't be bent at sharp angles. Even then you really have to look for it to see it.
Wiring within the unit to individual devices comes down to the owner of the unit. In my case, my builder had ethernet run throughout my unit and so my fibre runs to the ONT from the entry above the unit door, and then it plugs in to the existing ethernet where the router is to all the other devices in my place.
With the newer Optik TV boxes, they can be operated completely over wifi using Telus's provided hardware. If you specifically use your own third party router and have the newest AndroidTV based Optik boxes, viewing TV on them would count against data usage. The older PVRs that has a hard drive in them are the only ones that really needs an ethernet connection.

You can have telus fibreoptic cable brought into your condo, have a fast wi-fi router connected to it, and have your TV connect to the wifi.
