Connecting two computers

Do I have to have a separate router or will the Telus fiber optic modem do the job?

I'm not from Telus but yes you can connect both of your computers to the network sockets on the optical modem.

I have plugged 4 cables and they have been able to talk to each other just like they were in the intranet.

But recently it has been not very stable, one of the sockets would disconnect the computer after a few days usage and the only solution is to hard reset the modem.

Wow it was there all along. All I had to do was turn on Network sharing. Now I feel like an idiot LOL. Anyway thank you for giving me a thump on the back of the head. This is great.

Can you provide more details on what you're trying to do?

I want my two computers to talk to each other. Transfer files mostly.
