With website blocking being a standard feature on most home routers, I am wondering why this was removed?

Official Support TeamWebsite blocking is indeed a standard feature on many retail routers. In the case of TELUS-provided routers like the Arcadyan, some advanced features (including direct URL filtering) are not available due to the custom firmware we use. This firmware is optimized to support TELUS-specific services, ensure better remote troubleshooting, automatic updates, and consistent performance across a wide range of customer environments.
