Anyone actually get two Telus Boost 7s working with Ethernet backhaul?

Hey all — hoping someone’s cracked this.

I just upgraded to 3 Gig Telus Fibre, and the tech left me with two Boost 7 units. My goal is to wire them up with Ethernet backhaul for the best performance.

So far, I’ve managed to get one Boost 7 working perfectly. It’s plugged straight into the 10 Gb port on the main Telus router, and it flies — around 1.5 Gbps on my M3 Mac. When I log into the router, it shows that first Boost as the controller.

The problem starts when I try to add the second one. The Telus Connect app on iOS doesn’t see it at all, and there’s no setting in the router’s admin page to make it a secondary node.

I’ve tried:

  • Plugging both Boosts into the router’s built-in hub.
  • Using a Ubiquiti 2.5 Gb switch connected to the 10 Gb port, with both Boosts wired in.

Same result — nothing.

So… has Telus prematurely launched these Boost 7s without full mesh or wired backhaul support? I really don’t want to drop a grand on a full Ubiquiti setup just to get proper coverage.

Anyone have a workaround or success story with multiple Boost 7s on Ethernet?

  • Update: Got it sort of working — but not how I planned.

Turns out if you plug the second Boost 7 directly into the first one’s 2.5 Gb hub port, it auto-configures itself and joins the network. Both now show “wired – excellent connection.”

That said, it’s a janky workaround. I wanted all three Boosts to be wired into my switch (star layout), but there’s no way to manually configure or manage them. The Telus Connect app doesn’t show the Boost 7s at all, and the router’s web UI has zero mesh controls.

So yes, they work — just not how you’d expect for 2025 hardware. Hopefully Telus enables full multi-node or wired-mesh support in a firmware or app update soon.

Thanks for sharing this. We can definitely pass it along to our team for feedback.
