Hey everyone, I’ve been facing a strange issue with my fibre internet connection where it drops every few hours for a few minutes and then reconnects automatically. It’s not a complete outage, but e...

Hi, thanks a lot for the detailed breakdown — really appreciate the effort you put into this.
Just to update, the issue seems to be resolved now. The connection has been stable since the last checks with no noticeable drops.
Not entirely sure what the exact cause was, but your points around DHCP and the physical line really helped narrow things down.
Thanks again for the support!

20 days agoHi arifsharif - I’ve been investigating the intermittent drops on your fibre connection. Since the standard reboots haven't resolved it, the issue likely sits in one of these three areas:
DHCP Lease Renewal: The router and the Telus gateway may be failing to 'handshake' properly when the IP address refreshes, causing a brief 1–2 minute dropout.
ONT Signal (Physical Line): There could be a 'micro-bend' or dust in the fibre optic line. If the LOS light on the white ONT box flashes red during a drop, we’ll need a technician to re-splice or clean the connection.
Hardware Bottleneck: With several devices and IoT hardware active, the router's memory (NAT table) might be hitting a limit and forcing a quick reset of the network stack.
Does this happen quite frequently still?
