Cancel/opt out of a Shared/Family Plan

Asking for a friend. 

Friend is also a Telus mobility customer.  If they are under a shared/family plan and they are not the main "account holder" can they still cancel their plan w/out the main account holder?  So they can open their own personal separate individual account with Telus?

They are under no contract and is pay as you go month-to-month.

    No, the account holder needs to authorize the transfer of ownership to your friend. They can't cancel the line either, only the account holder can do that. https://www.telus.com/en/support/article/transfer-mobile-number-another-person
