5G not connecting after any drop to 4G/LTE - Network Issue
On my Galaxy S23, when leaving a 5G coverage area, the device drops to LTE/4G as expected, but it never reselects 5G when returning to coverage. The only way to restore 5G is manually toggling the network mode from 5G to LTE and back. This indicates that LTE-to-NR reselection signaling or 5G neighbor information is not being broadcast correctly in the current Ericsson network deployment. It is not the phone, as I know 50+ other Telus customers with the same issue.

I had 5G two hours ago and now checked and it is LTE. My previous post explained this. Fact is I can see the Telus antenna from where I am which has 5G but mostly it has LTE.
This is BC Gulf Islands where we are lucky to have one antenna on each Island mountain, not like in a city where there are many.
Would be happy to hear an explanation why it is there (5G) but not always. Signal strength 3-5 bars of 5

I see 5G+ outdoors downtown in Victoria and 5G in the burbs

I see LTE is some areas suggesting some more infrastructure is needed. Lots of it in cities, highways and more.

Hello HedgeFund , have you ever contacted technical support to let them know about this situation? Do you sometimes see the 5G network signal on your phone?

I purchased a new 5G phone from Telus since the 5G map showed service available where I wanted it.
However the 5G network is not working well at all. I have visual site line of the Telus tower from which I get a strong 5G single only to be lost and regained.
Also I live in a city area where there is no 5G reported service.
What I am saying is don't hold your breath with 5G reconnecting. My guess is the decommission of 3G moved too many into the zone of 5G, so LTE is taking the overload.

Hi there - in Calgary, Edmonton, Camrose, and throughout Alberta. The other users I've spoken to with issues are in Anriid devices (large range of brand new and slightly older devices).

Hi Cobbles, are you comfortable with sharing your city/town where you are experiencing issues? Here in Edmonton my signal does go back to 5G with my iPhone 16 Pro Max
