Telus sent my old closed account to Collections?
After checking my spam inbox I noticed that a collections company "General Credit Services" has reached out demanding nearly $200 for an old Telus Wireline account I closed over 7 years ago. I never received an email from Telus about any late payments, and I can't find any information on this account due to the sheer amount of time that's passed. I've already reached out to an agent and he basically told me to go talk to collections, much help that was.
I never found any report of this on my credit report, and I (perhaps) foolishly paid GCS given they've been spamming my phone from different #'s for a week now. Is there anyone I can speak to regarding this? I've been a Telus customer for many many years, this entire thing has been really disappointing.

Contact Telus to confirm the issue then reach out to the group agency to resolve or dispute.

Understandably a challenging situation to be in SavvyPavvy. While we can't promise specific information/resolutions here given the timeline you've mentioned, we would like to take a look. We'll send you a PM shortly.

Telus may have sent to collections, but most likely the supposed debt was sold to these upstart collection agencies at a fraction of the face value. They profit with volume and enough people just pay to have it stop.
