Outdoor Fiber hub
I have requested Telus PureFibre 1GB service for my home. There is no fiber optic cable inside the house, but there are Cat6 cables available outside, along with a power outlet in a weatherproof box. Does Telus have a suitable outdoor installation option for my situation, or do I need to purchase a third-party fiber-to-ethernet converter?

Hi!
TELUS Outdoor Installation Policy:
Unfortunately, TELUS has a policy that they will not install equipment outside of your home. According to the TELUS community forum discussions, TELUS requires the ONT (Optical Network Terminal) to be installed inside your home for security and reliability reasons.
Your Options:
Recommendations:
Consider having TELUS run the fiber cable to your weatherproof box location and then use a fiber-to-ethernet converter there to connect to your existing Cat6 infrastructure.
If you proceed with a third-party converter, ensure it's compatible with TELUS's fiber specifications and that you understand any warranty or support implications.
Third-Party Fiber-to-Ethernet Converter: Since you have Cat6 cables and power available outside, you could purchase a third-party fiber-tethernet converter (also called a fiber media converter). Some customers in the TELUS forums have mentioned using devices like the "UFiber Active Ethernet device" which can be powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Standard TELUS Installation: TELUS will run fiber optic cable to the exterior of your home (the "demarc" point), but the ONT must be installed inside. They would need to bring the fiber cable inside through a small hole (typically 1/4 inch) to connect to the ONT.
