On 1GB pure fiber T3200M. How do I get >1Gbit speed if I upgrade to 3GB plan?
The existing T3200M only has 1Gbit ports. So I assume (but can't get confirmation) that any plan upgrade would include a swap out or delivery of an upgraded modem. But their website doesn't say anything about this:
- do I automatically get a newer modem
- what is the specific model of the modem you ship with 1.5 or 3Gbit plans
- what are the ethernet port speeds of this newer modem
It seems obvious that a newer modem must have faster ethernet ports or a second, industry standard SFP+ port so I can actually use the faster speed. But their website doesn't even try to answer these basic questions.
I've checked the forum but it seems full of more technical setup and configuration issues and couldn't find this simple question.
I'm only really considering upgrading because I'm hoping any newer hardware doesn't use their proprietary GPON ONT. I'd like to be able to connect the fibre directly into my firewall box via 10GB sfp port. From what I can determine, this won't work because the SFP used by Telus is a gpon ONT which isn't compatible with SFP+ ports. (This isn't really important.)
