Just did the migration this morning. I use Outlook 365 so used the G Suite Sync app (GSSMO). What a mistake!!

It took 2 + hours to do some sort of synchronization - then when I opened Outlook IT DID IT AGAIN!!!!! Fully synced, I close Outlook and it spends almost 10 minutes syncing all over again. There's no new emails, no new contacts, no new calendar items. What is it syncing? Who in their right mind would use such a piece of crap? Gmail online interface is simply awful and besides, I want a desktop email solution - not something I have to use in a f@#$ing browser.

Worse, I use Outlook to manage several emails (thankfully unrelated to Telus.net) and those accounts WERE DELETED!!!

    WTF?

This is the most inconvenient migration I've every done. Very unhappy with Gmail and Telus. I'm going back to IMAP and looking for another email provider - despite the HUGE inconvenience of having to change an email address I have used for almost 20 years.

NancyM I would suggest that your basic problem is Outlook, and would suggest you consider switching to Thunderbird. I switched from Outlook to Thunderbird years ago as I was having constant issues with Outlook, and Microsoft constantly changing the program.

I find Thunderbird and Gmail work fine together using IMAP. Synchronization is essentially instant. You have access to your mail with a phone or other mobile device, while keeping your email mirrored on your hard drive with Thunderbird. You can make changes on a mobile device or home PC and it is updated on both. If you don't want Gmail to access all email you can drag it to a local folder and it will only be kept on the hard drive. Thunderbird can handle multiple accounts.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used Thunderbird for a few years but since I have to support others who use Outlook, it's easier for me to know the ins and outs of it. I do agree that the "improvements" Microsoft keeps making have completely ruined the application.

But just to be clear, now that I've deleted every last piece of the G Suite Synchronization nightmare, and set my mailbox up using IMAP, Outlook is working just fine.

  • Did telus send a reminder that my telus email account will be transitioning to be powered by Google and that I have to set up a transition date. Is this a scam?

  • We have had many problems. We are older and was advised contacts would be transferred - Not. No guidance how to set up or use Telus Google Mail. Printing an email is so too small can’t hardly read it. No font set up. This is the worst! Have been with Telus for 30 plus years. Just feel sick! We are older and were happy with how things were. If we wanted to deal with google mail and tons of “have to use” apps we would have switched on our own - not be forced over a barrel. Plus due to Covid no help can’t get any help due to extremely long waits by phone.

Re Telus Email mass Transfer to Telus Google Mail
Our small business relies heavily and happily using the computer based Microsoft Outlook 10 - worked excellent could do everything in that program as well relied very much on our offline business folders. Then was put in the mass transfer groups to Telus google mail on the Internet on Wed 9 Sept 2920. Promises of folder and contact transfers and that there will be minimal changes as well that help was available. Which now only the basic folders were transferred no contacts transferred at all. Still not able to get assistance with anything. Have been on hold so many times with no results. There is absolutely no guidance. Tried to print a letter and I could not format in any way and could barely read the printing as it was very small. We are not widget or app downloaders and are not interested in searching something out there in the web to help. We all feel let down by Telus. Very apprehensive, feel ill about this mess and nowhere to turn to for assistance. Have also read on this site that a person was in contact with Telus and could not assist in any way on how to connect up the offline folders. Feeling lost, dismayed and totally let down by Telus.

Telus has just dumped (put us out to trash) all of us small business clients who use a computer based email (we used Microsoft Outlook 2010). This worked extremely well for us. We relied heavy on the offline (locally stored) folders. These folders are now TOTALLY INACCESSIBLE in this new mass dump to the Internet GMail. To date we have not been able to get through to Telus - can be on hold for hours! Then if you do get through - they have no idea - not sure - so no real help AT ALL. If we could just get back into our old Telus email on our stand alone computer then they can still be accessed, printed, or saved into documents. What is wrong with TELUS!!!!
If we wanted an “Internet” email we would have switched. Have spoken to others and they are in the same predicament - absolutely no help for small businesses at all. Spoke to users in B.C. and was advised they are also still trying to get their offline small business folders. Is there any solution out there. All I keep getting is GMail does not synchronize properly - what kind of explanation does that mean. Also suggested was - perhaps you should not have switched! grrrrr

There is lots of information on Telus site about the migration. You can find it here.

I’m not sure why you are so fixated on a post from a customer, based on what they discovered 3+ months ago.

They are migrating the email accounts over in batches. They will email you prior to your account moving.

I haven't heard from Telus yet about my account being moved.  Are they doing this in sequence, ie by last name, alphabetically, etc.?  Can you tell me when the last day is that I should hear from them or is there any way to find out when I will be contacted?  Thank you.

They're doing the migration in batches. Telus has not disclosed how they decide which accounts are done together, nor the time frame they expect it all to take. There are likely millions of accounts so it may take a while. I believe they will email you before the migration but I don't remember how far in advance.

      hi

just Receive my emails from Telus notifying me of the transition/migration to Google. I opened it and clicked on

"get started" where I was prompted to enter my email and password which I did. Message came back invalid login and 10 invalid login may lock my account temporarily. I have tried several ways several methods with no success.

oddly enough,  I can sign into my Telus account and view my bills and invoices dating usage etc. Using the same email address and password I cannot logon in to do this transition.

has anyone else had this problem?

calling can't telus for help ... currently waiting on two telus lines..... long long waits?

can't seem to get any satisfaction.

My experience with Telus customer support is also terrible, it's sucked up huge amounts of time without resolving the problem. I think we need to fight back and am trying to think about how this might happen.
